BEST PRACTICES

Get more from every Club XL gig.

Field-tested habits from working event DJs—what to print, where to send scans, and how to mount so the booth actually books.

Display text locks once production starts. Destination redirects and mounting tips below still apply — we can update your Scan + Tap-Connect destination anytime.

    Print a short, memorable name

Shorter text prints larger, reads faster across a loud room, and sticks in memory.

    • Use your stage name or handle—what guests already call you (e.g. DJ TONY PHASE or @DJTONYPHASE).
    • Skip legal fluff like “Entertainment LLC,” “Events,” or “Services,” and don’t print your website—the scan already opens it.
    • Aim for roughly ~12 characters when you can. Longer still works, but it scales down on the plate.

Send scans somewhere guests will stay

Club XL only works as well as the page it opens. A weak destination feels like a lost business card.

    • DJs who do best often point Club XL at Instagram (or another active social). Guests stay in an app they already use, keep seeing you in the feed, and can DM when they are ready—without filling out a high-commitment booking form mid-event.
    • A poorly built website that people glance at and close rarely captures the lead. If your site is not conversion-ready, do not force it.
    • No strong site yet? Use Instagram directly, or a simple hub like Linktree / Beacons. Need a form without rebuilding your site? Free builders like Tally work well.
    • Need to change the destination later—or recover from a hacked Instagram? We reprogram the redirect for you (no plate swap).

Mount it where the dancefloor can see it

Hardware in the gear bag books zero gigs. Visibility is the product.

    • Actually mount the Club XL on the booth—every gig. Leaving it packed removes the entire handoff.
    • Face guest sightlines: front of the facade, tray lip, or wherever dancers naturally look during peak energy.
    • Avoid tucking it only by the DJ for people who already walked up. Dancefloor visibility is how strangers remember and find you later.

Make your name findable after the event

Not every guest scans on the spot. Many remember a name and search later—Google or Instagram.

    • Print the name people will type or search—not your legal entity line.
    • Keep the same identity across the plate, Instagram, and Google Business / website so one search lands on you.
    • Working DJs already get bookings from guests who never scanned at the booth but found them afterward.
